free@last is the charity in the group, a local organization that works to improve the lives of the children, young people and residents of Nechells – an impoverished inner city community in the heart of our city. We offer a wide variety of support, advice and opportunities to help local people to overcome the challenges they face on a daily basis and improve their standards of living.
Luke is one of our youth workers and mentors, who spends his time with children who have a complexity of issues and difficulties, both at home, at school and in all areas of their lives. Most of these children do not have a positive role model to talk to and spend quality time with and Luke quickly becomes the person they can share their problems with and he helps them to explore ways of working through their choices, behavior and problems.
free@last was started in 1999 and in 2005 we wanted to be less reliant on grants and funding but to create our own destiny by running our own businesses that support the charity. Our main 2 income generators are the Family Fun Zone, and Freax Adventures. The Family Fun Zone is an entertainment venue at Star City, where you can have a go at archery, bb gun shooting or paint a pot! See www.familyfunzone.co.uk for more information.
Freax Adventures is a fully mobile adventurous activity and corporate team building provider working throughout the UK. Committed to providing the highest quality adventure experience for a wide variety of clients including education, businesses, events and hospitality. See www.freaxadventures.co.uk for more information.
There are many ways that you can become involved with free@last, whether by using our business services or making us your charity of the year as part of your business social responsibility, or by joining our volunteer mentoring programme. Please contact us to discuss how we can work together to help improve the lives of our local children. Thank you.
